    With an Ohio-laced rhythmic flow and vocal gymnastics, poet Napoleon Maddox spans the worlds of jazz and hip hop, taking in everything from Thelonious Monk via Gil Scott-Heron to Outkast. Napoleon has traveled the world with his own group ISWHAT?! and collaborated with Public Enemy’s Chuck D & saxophonist Archie Shepp. Napoleon is featured on Shepp’s album Phat Jam in Milano alongside Oliver Lake and Hamid Drake.

    Debut­ing on Thurs­day, June 4th and con­clud­ing on Sat­ur­day, June 27th, Green-Wood, Mapp Inter­na­tional Pro­duc­tions and Full Spec­trum Inc. present DARK WONDERLAND, four long week­ends of inno­v­a­tive per­for­mances to mark the 150th anniver­sary of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adven­tures in Won­der­land, and com­ment on the fan­tas­ti­cal dual nature of New York City.

    Per­form­ers include Ali­cia Hall Moran with Bran­don Ross, Andrew D’Angelo & Pete Rende, Arturo Vidich, Jill Sig­man with DJ Joro Boro, Mat Fraser & Julie Atlas Muz, Queen GodIs, Sacha Yanow, Samita Sinha & Gra­ham Haynes, SLV (fea­tur­ing San­dra Lilia Velasquez & Sean Dixon), Vanessa Anspaugh & devynn Emory, and Ver­non Reid. The hosts will be Helga Davis and Alzo Slade. Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Cham­ber will be per­form­ing the week­end of June 25th to the 27th. Doors are at 7pm. Event begins at 7:30pm.

    This event is appro­pri­ate for ages 18 and up. No out­side alco­hol or food is per­mit­ted. Chairs and benches are pro­vided and all tick­ets are gen­eral admis­sion. The main entrance is located at the gothic arches at 5th Avenue & 25th Street in Brook­lyn. By pub­lic trans­porta­tion from the Atlantic/Barclays Cen­ter stop in Brook­lyn take the R train going towards Bay Ridge. Exit at the 25th Street Sta­tion and walk east one block to Green-Wood at 5th Avenue and 25th Street.
